top ten series I haven’t finished (or started)

It’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the folks at the Broke and the Bookish. This week: “Top Ten Series I Haven’t Finished (because either you didn’t like them, you just have procrastinated), etc.” Ha! Given the pile of reading I have, this one is easy…I haven’t finished most series just because I haven’t gotten around to it. But, let’s have a think…

Haven’t gotten around to it..

1-4. I have not read the latest books by the following authors. I own them…just haven’t gotten to them yet: Sue Grafton Alphabet series, Elizabeth George Inspector Lynley series, Anne Perry, William Monk series [Possibly the Pitt ones as well, hard to keep up), Janet Evanovich (well, I only read the Stephanie Plum series, but haven’t gotten to 18 yet…). In fact, I’m often prodded to read these authors when I’m in danger of getting two books behind.

OTHER REASONS

Lost interest:

5. The Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles. I started reading these as a teenager and just lost interest in them as an adult.

6. If the V.C. Andrews syndicate is still putting out work in her name…I had my teenage years Flowers in the Attic fixation, like lots of girls in the 80s…but when Andrews died in 1986 and her books kept coming and coming, I stopped reading them once I read the ones she wrote. I think I probably just grew out of them.

Author died so I hold off on reading one of her books so I’m not finished…

7. I started reading the Julian Kestrel series by Kate Ross after Ross’s early death at age 42 in the 90s. There are four Kestrel mysteries…I’ve read three and keep holding off on the fourth because I know it will be the last one. But I think I’ve owned the fourth for close to 10 years…so there’s a bit of a magical thinking/phobia going on there I think…

Still haven’t started.

8-10. J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series; Suzanne Collins Hunger Games trilogy; E. L. James 50 Shades series. I do want to read the first two series…not sure about 50 Shades, but I can see myself wanting to since it’s another one everyone else seems to have read. I am not adding the Twilight series since I’m not really interested in reading it.

What series aren’t you caught up on? Any that you’d like to tackle but haven’t?
